Another thing I like about this place - Even the the road was cloed, I rode my bike past the construction trucks. I checked with a one of the workers if it was ok and he said yes. In the USA this would be less likely to happen. It would be more likely someone would say something like "Can't you see the road is closed?" If not more likely, at least it happened enough that I learned to be afraid of people. Here, on the other hand I am learning that most people are tolerant and even friendly.
This is one example of how people here make things work on a low budget. This gets the messaage acrooss that there are re-bars sticking up. (Re-bars is short for reinforcement bars that go in concrete.) It might not be beautiful but it works. People ae also free to improvise here. I like that too.
